New Plymouth Taxis operate a two tariff meter.

Tariff 1            $3-30 per kilometre (Applies from 5am to 12 midnight)

Tariff 2            $3-70 per kilometre (Applies from 12 midnight to 5am and also on public holidays)

Waiting Time   $0-60 per minute (Applies when the taxi is stationary)

Flagfall            $2-60 (This is a one off charge which is applied when the meter is first turned on)

Defiling Fee     $100-00  (Charged when a passenger makes an unacceptable mess in the taxi requiring the driver to take time off the road to clean the vehicle to a standard where he can pick up more customers)

 Airport Surcharge    $3-00 (N.P.D.C charges taxis a fee to park on the airport taxi rank and this is passed on to the customer)

Wheelchair Handling Charge    $2-00 (This is charged due to the extra time required when handling a passenger in a wheelchair)

Electronic Transaction Fee     $2-00

 New Plymouth Taxis only run on Tariff 2 between midnight and 5 am and unlike some taxi companies we do not run tariff 2 all day Saturday and Sunday.
