Professionally registered Celebrant, Margaret Sauvarin attends over 200 services a year. These include wedding ceremonies, funerals and name-giving services.
Naming ceremonies are growing in popularity worldwide and offer a great way to celebrate a new family member.
“These days many people don’t attend church and feel hypocritical requesting a child’s baptism,” Margaret explains. “But parents often want to celebrate the arrival of a new child and honour the name they have chosen.”
Many parents offer creative ways to make the occasion meaningful, with different venues and original ceremonies. Their ideas are easily incorporated into Margaret’s approach to the service.
Recently Margaret officiated at a name-giving on a boat and another standing on the bare foundations of a couple’s new home.
There are no rules and no age limits either.
She married one couple on a Wednesday, celebrated a name-giving for their four children on Sunday, and was invited back a few months later to welcome the happy family’s new baby.
