Northland Pathology Laboratory was established in the early 60's with a technical staff of 5.The laboratory now has a staff of 45, and offers a service to doctors midwives, smear takers and other health professionals and commercial organisations throughout Northland.
The laboratory offers a wide range of diagnostic tests in Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, Immunology and Histology/Cytology.
Northland Pathology is equipped with modern analytical equipment and a state of the art computer system which ensures that the majority of routine patient results are reported back to requesting doctors on the same day.
Reporting is via email where possible with results being available immediately; additionally, paper reports are issued several times a day. The laboratory has collection sites at the laboratory in Rust Ave (7:30am to 5:30 pm) at Primecare, Kensington (8:30 am to 3:30pm) and at The Cottage 357B Kamo Rd (8am to 10am). Additionally there are collection rooms in Paihia Memorial Hall (9am to 10am weekdays), Kerirkeri, 55 Hobson Ave (8am to 10am weekdays), and in Kaikohe, Broadway Medical Centre (8:30am to 10:30am). In addition we collect samples from practices around Whangarei on a daily basis.
