Timber is a dimensionally unstable material, which expands and contracts with changing moisture content in the atmosphere. The timber surface is eroded by ultra violet light and is also a source of nutrients for mould growth. Some timbers contain resins and oils, which can adversely affect the performance of paint. Whilst we follow all paint manufacturers instructions and industry standards, there is no guarantee against existing deterioration from re-occurring.
