Why Skellerup Rototanks? Superior Water Storage A number of Good Reasons...
Made From Tough Rotomould Polyethylene
Skellerup Rototanks are manufactured utilising a process of Rotational moulding which is virtually stress free, producing tanks which are durable, structurally solid and exceptionally strong. Our tanks have been extensively tested for impact strength and crack resistance. They exceed all standard requirements.
Will Not Taint Water or Food
Skellerup Rototanks use colours that are formulated to satisfy the requirements for the Australian Standard AS2070 parts 1, 6 and 8 for food contact and the Standards for Drinking Water, AS4020 and NZ/BS6920 (BS6920).
Algae Resistant
Skellerup Rototanks are one of the safest forms of water or food storage you can buy. How do we know? Firstly, they are made from polyethylene which has excellent polymer stability. Secondly, they are not made from natural sand or stone, so they do not require elaborate systems or fungicides to protect you from unwanted algae growth. Thirdly, Skellerup Rototanks colours have been formulated to resist the growth of algae by inhibiting the transmission of light which normally allows its growth. Our tanks surpass the Tank Standard (ASTM D1998-91) which specifies a minimum wall thickness of 4.7mm. Algae grows only if the wall thickness is less than 4mm. If you need any more proof, our lab and field tests show the tanks have a consistently high resistance to micro organism population growth.
Ultraviolet (UV) Light Stability
Skellerup Rototanks block the UV light that contributes to degradation by long term exposure . Our tanks contain an excellent UV-8 additive package, which is designed to handle the higher UV conditions in New Zealand. A typical UV package for North America or Europe would be rated as UV-4 in comparison.
Keeps Water Cooler
Skellerup Rototanks have very low heat transfer and retention. This is due in part to polyethylene's natural insulative properties.
Lightweight
Skellerup Rototanks are lightweight, easily transported and simple to manoeuvre. Care should be exercised when handling larger tanks as shock loads can cause damage. (Refer to installation instructions).

Huge Range Of Sizes
Skellerup Rototanks are made to suit you. Whatever your requirements, there's a size to suit. We even have a custom moulding service.

Installed Tanks Are Very Stable
Skellerup Rototanks stay put. 1,000 litres of water weighs 1 tonne, when installed and filled, a 25,000 Rototank weighs up to 25 tonnes. However, even when the tank is empty, because the outlet is approximately 105mm from the tank base, there is always enough water inside (appox. 1.1 tonne) to keep the tank stable. Instead of making tanks heavy, and therefore hard to install, we think it makes sense to use the natural weight of water to ensure stability.
Above ground use only - Not to be buried.
Excellent Resistance To Most Chemicals
Skellerup Chemical Grade Rototanks can be used with most agricultural chemicals. Polyethylene's polymer stability ensures this flexible storage option.
A Colour Range That's Colour Fast
Skellerup Rototanks come in several colours. If black doesn't suit, splash out on dark green, mist green, beige or white. It's also reassuring to know that the colour you buy will stay the same after years of service.
Skellerup Rototanks use colour pigments that provide a high standard of colour light fastness. They have been tested to the Blue Wool Scale (which rates colour fastness) with excellent results.

Installation
All Skellerup Rototanks are supplied with Installation Instructions to help guide you. Below is an outline of this easy process. Installation booklet must be referred to when installing a tank.
- Venting - It is essential that all tanks are fitted with adequate air ventilation. This is even more important when a pump or a larger fitting is used with a tank.
- Manoeuvring the tank to the site must be done carefully. Protect the tank from shocks and knocks.
- Place tank on even hard surface with no sharp or protruding objects. (Above ground use only - tank must not be buried).
- Ensure that all tanks are fitted with overflow outlets that drain well clear of the tank pad.
- Ensure the weight of the pipes or valves fixed to the tank are independently supported and that flexible joiners are used on pipework.
- Cut hole to correct minimum clearance with hole saw.
- Never over - tighten fittings.
