Built about 1880 on this prominent site at the south end of French Farm Bay, with commanding views of Onawe Peninsula, the Akaroa hills and harbour, Bantry Lodge was commissioned by the son of the Earl of Bantry.

Guest accommodation consists of one balcony room upstairs, queen bed, with private bathroom, one verandah room, queen bed, with french doors and private bathroom; a self-accommodation cottage which sleeps four.
Driving from Christchurch, Akaroa or Barry's Bay, continue along Wainui Main Road to French Farm, past the French Farm Winery Road for a further 300 metres to Bantry Lodge Lane. Turn into the Lodge entrance, and up the tree‑lined drive.
