We can design, manufacture and install your entire stair and balustrade system, whatever style you choose. We are specialist stair makers. We build stairs using native New Zealand timbers or selected imported timbers.

Commonly asked Q & A

• When do I contact Artistic Stairs?

At the planning stage. We work with you to assist in your choice of a suitable stair and balustrade system. If necessary, we are able to work with your architect/ draftsperson to ensure that your stair/ balustrade system will fit into your home. 

This depends upon the design. You will normally gain useable floor space with a circular stair.

• How do I get the curved staircase into my home?

Most curved stair systems can be moved into the house through a double entry door. When the plans have been examined we can advise if there may need to be other arrangements. On some occasions the stair has to be built in our factory, dismantled and re-assembled on site due to the limitations of access. 

• Who installs my new stair?

Pre-manufactured straight flights of customwood stairs for carpet or paint can often be installed by your builder. For winder stairs or other more complex geometric stairs, we recommend Artistic Stairs' personnel professionally install them for you.

• When are balustrade systems scheduled and installed?  

Balustrade systems are installed after the walls are painted and before the carpet is due. We normally require up to three weeks notice to schedule your balustrade installation.

• How much dust is there?

Unfortunately, during the installation process there is a lot of dust. 

• Who stains or paints the components?

All our products are supplied and installed to a sanded finish only. You may request that your painting contractor apply any stain/ paint/ finish or you may choose to do this for yourself.
